In reply to the gracious message from His Majesty

the King which I have today delivered to the people of Hong Kong

I beg that the profound gratitude of all inhabitants of the

Colony may be expressed with humble duty for the greetings and

good wishes which Their Majesties the King and Queen have been

pleased to send and that His Majesty may be assured of the firm

determination of the people of Hong Kong to do all in their

power to justify the confidence which His Majesty has been pleased

to place in them.
